Roadworks

Current or upcoming Roadworks, Temporary Road Closures and Interruptions to Traffic are listed below.

Temporary Road Closures – Anzac Day 2024 Services 

On Thursday 25 of April 2024, temporary road closures will be in place for the Ulverstone and Penguin Anzac Day March and Service. No vehicles are to remain parked in the closed areas during the road closure times. 

Ulverstone

  • Reibey Street — between Victoria Street and the Shrine of Remembrance;
  • Alexandra Road — from East of Dairy Company Lane to West of the Main Street junction; and
  • Risby Street — from North of the junction with John Street to the Shrine of Remembrance from:
    • 5.00 am to 6.30 am for the Dawn service; and
    • 10.30 am to 12.30 pm for the Main Service.

Penguin

  • Main Road, Penguin — from the railway crossing at the eastern end of Main Road to a point adjacent to number 46 Main Road from:
    • 5.00 am to 6.30 am for the Dawn service; and
    • 10.30 am to 12.30 pm for the Main Service

Carpark upgrades – Esplanade at Turners Beach

From Monday 8 April, a Council project opposite 80 – 86 Esplanade Turners Beach (opposite old Le Mar Café) will commence to upgrade the car park and make some necessary road alterations. This work is estimated to be completed within 8- 10-weeks. Beach access in this location closed during this time.

Scope of works:

  • Formalising the existing parking areas with road seals and line marking,
  • New pedestrian crossings,
  • Update and realign intersection line marketing,
  • Rain garden (natural soft approach to managing stormwater). 

We will continue to update the community throughout the project and alert you in advanced if there are any anticipated changes to traffic.

Ongoing Roadworks – Leith 

Department of State Growth will be doing light pole works on the Bass Highway between Braddons Lookout Road and Turners Beach Road, Leith, from Monday, 18 March 2024, to Monday, 29 April 2024.

There will be a reduced speed limit with some lane closures from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Motorists are urged to drive to the conditions and obey all traffic directions.
