If you’re a homeowner, renovator, tradesperson, or maintenance professional, it is important to know whether asbestos may be present in the job site and how to deal with it safely.
Exposure to asbestos can cause health issues, including Pleural Mesothelioma cancer. Click here find out more information on Pleural Mesothelioma cancer symptoms and treatment.
If your house was built or renovated before the mid-1980s, it likely contains asbestos cement building materials. You may be surprised at the various types of products that were made from bonded asbestos cement. Some examples include:
- water drainage and flue pipes,
- roofing shingles and guttering;
- backing of vinyl sheet floor coverings;
- fibro sheeting (flat and corrugated) in walls and ceilings.
In the event of fire, hail, or water damages to any of the above materials, it must be managed or removed by a licensed Asbestos Removalist.
