Central Coast Council is seeking community and industry feedback on a proposal to expand the East Ulverstone Industrial Precinct onto adjacent Council-owned land at Maskells Road, East Ulverstone.
The proposal was developed in response to an Industrial Land Analysis which found the Central Coast has less than two years’ supply of readily available industrial land and includes artist’s impressions illustrating how the site could be developed.
Director Strategic Growth, Daryl Connelly, said the site’s location had strongly influenced the approach.
“Its proximity to the Coastal Pathway and our region’s reputation for quality produce and innovation, present a unique opportunity to support premium food or beverage manufacturing that incorporates cellar-door type experiences,” Mr Connelly said.
“Extensive native landscaping and concentrating signage at key locations to prevent visual clutter, are also key elements of our vision for an industrial estate that is attractive to workers, investors, locals and visitors.”
Consultation is open from 3 March to 15 March 2026. During this time, the proposal can be viewed via My Central Coast or at Council’s Administration Centre in Ulverstone.
Feedback is encouraged via My Central Coast. People who require assistance or alternative arrangements can contact Council on 6429 8900 and ask to speak with the Strategic Growth team.
Feedback received during the consultation period will inform Council’s consideration of the future design and development of the land, including any planning controls to be pursued through a planning scheme amendment.
The current proposal is an early-stage concept only, and Council is seeking feedback from both the general community and those who may have a future commercial interest in the site.
Following consultation, Council will consider drafting a planning scheme amendment. Any draft amendment would be subject to statutory public notification, with the Tasmanian Planning Commission making the final determination.
