A $12 million push to progress the missing Penguin to Ulverstone Coastal Pathway link is one of the major priorities in Central Coast Council’s first Advocacy Agenda, adopted by Council this week.
The 2026-2027 Advocacy Agenda brings together the projects, services and policy priorities Council will champion to support the Central Coast’s future.
Council is seeking $12 million for sections 1 and 2 of the Penguin to Ulverstone Coastal Pathway, one of the most significant missing links in the broader North West Shared Coastal Pathway.
Completing the link would improve walking and cycling access, connect coastal communities and support local tourism and business activity.
Mayor Cheryl Fuller said the Advocacy Agenda was “an important step in clearly articulating what matters most to our community, and how we will work with others to deliver it”.
“The Central Coast is an incredible place to live, work and invest,” Mayor Fuller said.
“At the same time, we are navigating significant change. Demographic shifts, workforce pressures, housing needs, evolving service demand and the growing impacts of climate and coastal risk mean that we must plan and act early.
“This is a moment to be organised, evidence-led and ready with practical solutions.”
Other major priorities include affordable housing investment, the Our Homes – Our Future affordability demonstration project, rectification of the Leven River wall, Volunteer Marine Rescue facility upgrades and Fairway Park improvements.
The Agenda also identifies road safety, youth services, domestic violence support, physical banking access and visitor economy development as advocacy priorities.
“While this plan is strategic and disciplined, it is not static,” Mayor Fuller said.
“Council will remain responsive to emerging community needs and opportunities as they arise, continuing to listen across our communities and ensuring our advocacy remains focused on what will make the greatest difference.
“Together, we can move from managing change to shaping it, delivering a sustainable, prosperous and inclusive future for the Central Coast.”
