Central Coast Council is disappointed to reveal another incidence of vandalism in Anzac Park – Ulverstone. There was significant damage to the new rubber softfall under the Launch Pad slide, which had been under construction and was barricaded off to the community for their safety.

It is estimated that the vandalism occurred after hours on Monday 11th December 2023. Video camera surveillance covers this area and footage will be provided to Tasmania Police to assist with the identification of offenders.

“We are disappointed and saddened that certain community members would do such a thing so close to Christmas. Not only does this impact our team, who have been working hard to refurbish the much-loved slide in time for School Holidays, this also impacts and costs the community. Unfortunately, this might mean the slide is not able to reopen in time for Christmas.” – Said Mayor Cheryl Fuller, Central Coast Council

The additional costs will likely be taken from budget allocations that had been set aside for upgrades to other playground equipment across the municipality. The area will remain barricaded off until it is safe to access.
Council urges the community to contact Tasmania Police or Crimestoppers if they have any information that might assist with investigations.
