Remembering Constable Keith Smith

Tasmania Police will hold a memorial in Ulverstone on Tuesday, 16 June 2026, marking 12 months since Constable Keith Smith was tragically taken from us.

The memorial will be held at The Pier, 3 Wharf Road, Ulverstone, commencing at 10:00am. The service is expected to run for approximately 60 minutes.

The event is being planned by Tasmania Police as an opportunity for Keith’s family, friends, colleagues, first responders and the wider community to come together, reflect on Keith’s life, acknowledge their loss, and honour the impact he had on so many.

Central Coast Mayor Cheryl Fuller will compere the service on behalf of the community.

For many people across the Central Coast, the past 12 months have been marked by grief, kindness and solidarity. The memorial will provide a supportive space to stand together, remember Keith, and recognise the strength, resilience and unity shown by first responders and the wider community.

In recognition of the community’s kindness and support over the past 12 months, members of the community are warmly invited to attend.

After the formal proceedings, and with Keith’s love of a “cuppa and a chat” in mind, those who wish are invited to remain outside the venue for a hot drink and a chance to talk together.

For those unable to attend in person, the memorial will also be livestreamed. Details about how to watch online will be shared closer to the event.

Please note there may be temporary traffic impacts in the area on the morning of the memorial. Those attending, or travelling nearby, are encouraged to allow extra time and follow any directions in place. For updates, please download Council’s Antenno App.
