Blythe River Field Day: Farm Dam Enhancement 2026
Landcare Tasmania is hosting a half-day field day for farmers, property owners and Landcare members interested in improving farm dams in the Blythe River Catchment.
The session will explore the production, ecosystem and drought resilience benefits of improved farm dam management, including the latest research from the ANU Sustainable Farms project.
Attendees will also take part in field visits to a local farm dam to compare different stages of farm dam enhancement.
Topics covered will include:
- wetland plant selection
- how invertebrates and aquatic life can improve water quality, reduce algae and support dam function
- efficient off-dam watering systems
- Landcare Tasmania’s Catchment Connect Project and how to submit an EOI for farm dam funding
Morning tea and a light lunch are included. Please dress for all weather conditions.
