Elected Councillors

Our Council operates under the guidance of a Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors.  Each Councillor is elected by you, the community, during the local government elections held in October every four years.

The Councillors, Mayor and Deputy Mayor all serve a four-year term.  They are your local shop and business owners, community group representatives, real estate agents and sporting club Presidents – they are there to support you and advocate for your wants and needs.

Your Councillors have a range of important responsibilities and obligations as part of their role at Council, including:

  • representing and acting in the interests of the community
  • developing and monitoring the implementation of strategic plans, budgets, policies and programs
  • the Mayor also acts as the leader of the community, as well as chairperson and spokesperson for our Council.

Councillors are not responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Council.  Operational matters, and overseeing the work done by employees, is the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer.

The next elections will be held in 2026 and we will announce the details closer to the time.
