2. A Town is a Tapestry – Final Instalments

Postal Communications in the Central Coast, curated by Anne Wennagel, which traces the history of local post offices and the people who ran them—from Abbotsham to the modern day.
Contemporary Pakana Art, curated by Bonnie Starick with artists Karen Smart and Tanya Harper. This striking sales gallery challenges materials and celebrates cultural identity through contemporary Aboriginal art.
4. International Day of Planetariums
Tuesday 7 May (Keynote on 6 May at Gnomon Pavilion)
Celebrate 100 years since the first planetarium show with Hive’s Principal Astronomer, Dr Martin George. Attend a special keynote on 6 May, then enjoy a full day of themed programming on 7 May in the planetarium. An unmissable event for stargazers and science lovers alike.
5. The Science of Sound – Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra
Thursday 8 May
This family-friendly performance blends music and science in an interactive experience led by two musicians from the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Aligned with the primary school science curriculum, it’s perfect for curious minds of all ages.
6. Sound in Space 2025 – Live Concert Series
Launching May, running through to August
Journey through sound and visuals in this immersive four-part concert series inside the Ulverstone Planetarium. From Celtic rhythms to psychedelic space rock, each Sunday show fuses music and astronomy into a cosmic sensory experience.
