We are excited to announce that the draft Housing Strategy and draft Structure Plans for Ulverstone, Penguin, Forth, Preservation Bay, and Sulphur Creek are now open for community review and feedback.
Our Homes – Our Future is a key step in planning for the next 20 years and beyond. It focuses on ensuring that housing in Central Coast meets community needs—identifying the types of homes required, where they should be located, and the infrastructure needed to support them.
At its core, this strategy celebrates the unique character of Central Coast’s towns, villages, and hamlets while laying the foundation for a vibrant and sustainable future. Our draft vision is to ensure that housing not only aligns with community needs but also enhances Central Coast as a great place to live.
Key Initiatives
To achieve this vision, the strategy outlines several key initiatives, including:
- Housing Opportunity Areas – Identifying where and how housing growth should happen across Central Coast.
- More Homes in Convenient Locations – Encouraging housing near shops, schools, services, jobs, and recreation spaces.
- A Greater Variety of Housing Choices – Expanding options to include smaller homes, townhouses, terraces, and mid-rise apartments in targeted areas.
- Better Design Standards – Introducing new requirements that promote high-quality design while reflecting local character. These include guidelines on building height, spacing, lot sizes, landscaping, materials, and front fencing.
