The Buttons Brewing Penguin Running Festival will be held on Sunday 11 February 2024. Over 500 runners from across Tasmania and interstate will participate in events from 1km to a 42.2km marathon.
The race hub and start/finish line will be located on the Penguin foreshore, near the Big Penguin and playground.
To ensure the safety of community, race participants and event organisers, the following streets and roads will be temporarily closed. No vehicles are to remain parked in the closed areas during this time.
Main Road, Penguin
The east of the junction with Johnsons Beach Road, to west of the junction with Crescent Street, will be closed from 5:00am to 2:00pm.
Main Road, Penguin, Penguin Road, Penguin and Penguin Road, West Ulverstone
The west of the junction with Crescent Street, through the transition into Penguin Road, to adjacent the property at 241 Penguin Road, West Ulverstone; including the junctions with Crescent Street, Arnold Street, Dooley Street, Kentish Street, Cann Street, Seaside Crescent, Robertsons Road, and Rockliffs Road, will be closed from 5.00am to 12.00pm.

Residential Access
Event organisers recognise the road closure will impact residents and locals. During the road closure, there will be a lead escort car available to escort vehicles in or out of the closed section in a controlled, slow, and safe manner. Please note, the lead escort car will need to be requested.

What if there is an emergency?
The Penguin Running Festival has contacted the emergency service organisations (Police, Ambulance, Fire) to ensure their awareness of the event and the emergency access plan, and to uphold the health and safety of residents and participants.
