Council provides and supports a range of community programs and activties that contribute to the Central Coast's character and enhance the health and wellbeing, community participation, cultural vitality and enjoyment of people visiting and living in the Central Coast.
Some of the activities/programs Council has available are as follows:-
Tas Laser Skirmish
The Central Coast Council are running 2 sessions for adults and kids on Tuesday 2nd February 2010 at Fulton Park, Forth. For details please click on the link Laser Skirmish

Heart Foundation Walking
There are two walking groups currently operating in the Central Coast, these consist of: The Heart of Ulverstone who meet every Monday at 9.30am departing from Otto's Grotto (for more details please contact Di Yaxley on 0400 256 213), and The Movers who meet every Wednesday at 9.00am departing from the Information Centre, Ulverstone (for more details please contact Rae Cordea on 6425 3141).
Get Active Program
The Council in conjunction with Womensport and Recreation Tasmania are running this program.
The Get Active Program
(GAP) is a state-wide initiative that aims to enhance health and wellbeing through involvement in physical activity, and encourage healthy eating habits. Participants take part in a 10-week series of 2-hour workshops, the first hour of which covers such issues as motivation, stress management, goal setting, self-esteem and healthy eating,. During the second hour the group participates in fun physical activities which the group itself chooses.
The GAP specifically seeks to engage people of all ages who are not currently physically active, and who may have experienced barriers to physical activity such as lack of confidence and motivation, negative body image, concerns about personal safety and who may lack knowledge about the benefits of healthy eating.
Community Recreation Leaders Award
The Community Recreation Leaders Award (CRLA) is a 10-week training program for anyone over 15 years of age who wants to develop skills in recreation leadership. It tackles the big issues that confront everyone who runs an active recreation session.
Typical CRLA participants might be students, young people, youth workers, health workers, teachers, sports coaches or volunteers in sports clubs, church groups and state or local government. The CRLA is a practical program designed particularly for those who have limited or no formal training. Participants do not require a high level of fitness or ability, but a willingness to apply good leadership principles is essential. Sessions include Principles of Good Practice, Improvisation and Modified Codes, First Aid, Fitness for Recreation, Effective Umpiring, Organising Events and Competitions, Effective Coaching, Inclusive Recreation, Risk Management and a Community Placement. The CRLA is delivered by a team of highly qualified local tutors drawn from across the recreation industry.
Trial A Sport Program
The Central Coast Council in conjunction with local sporting organisations are hosting a Trial A Sport Program being offered to students from local schools. Yachting, Bowls, Kung Fu, Football, Tennis, Boxing, Netball, Squash/Racquet Ball, Clay Target Shooting, Soccer, Cricket, Golf, Basketball, Surf Lifesaving, Fishing and Judo are being offered next year.
The dates are Thursday 28th - Sunday 31st January 2010 and Thursday 4th February - Sunday 7th February 2010.
An adult version of this program is going to be run late 2010 so stayed tuned!
Trial An Art Program
The Central Coast Council in conjunction with local artists/organisations are hosting a Trial an Art Program for adults and students in the June 2010 school holidays.
The aim of the project is to encourage people to get involved in trying different art based activities in the Central Coast area.
Some of the activities include: guitar, dance, pottery, painting, circus skills, photography, brass instruments and theatre.
Mixed Volleyball
The Central Coast Council is hosting a mixed volleyball six week roster, all ages welcome get a group together have some fun. Starts Monday 1st of March 2010 every Monday for six weeks.
Mixed Basketball
The Central Coast Council is hosting a mixed basketball six week roster, all ages welcome, get a group together and have some fun. Starts Monday 9th November 2009 for six weeks.
Beach Cricket
The Central Coast Council is Beach Cricket on the evening of Wednesday 3rd March 2010. All ages welcome, get a group together and have some fun.
Touch Football
The Central Coast Council is hosting a touch football roster, all ages welcome, get a group together and have some fun. Starts Monday 6th March 2010 for six weeks.
Mixed Soccer
The Central Coast Council is hosting a mixed soccer roster, all ages welcome, get a group together whether it's mates or family come have some fun. Starts Wednesday 4th August 2010 for six weeks.
Corporate Games
Opt-in. wellbeing the Central Coast way challenges you to a corporate games. To be held on Friday 13th November 2009 from 6pm-9pm. Teams of 8. Cost $40 for team. BBQ provided, trophy for the winning team. Activities include: basketball, soccer, netball, tug of war, egg and spoon race. Come along, bring the family or a few mates and have fun in this round robin event.
Festival in the Park
Opt-in - wellbeing the Central Coast way will be present at the Festival in the Park to be held at Anzac Park on Sunday 28th February 2010. We will be showcasing all our major supporters and our available programs. A great family outing and the opportunity to sign up for our programs.
Kids Theatre
Is your child interested in performing? Love to get on stage. We are running a 8 week theatre skills program commencing Thursday 24th September 2009. Open for grades 3 - 6.
Seniors Week
Seniors week is being held 1st - 7th October 2009. Stayed tuned for more information of what we have planned.
Youth Week
Youth week is being held 10th - 18th April 2010. Stayed tuned for more information of what we have planned.
Tai Chi in the Park
Come along and relax with Tai Chi in the park with Jean Walters. Dates/times to be advised.
World Challenge Day
Opt-in wellbeing the Central Coast way is holding a challenge day on Wednesday 26th May 2010 for schools. Stayed tuned for what we have in store!
