Drop In Centre Takes to the Road
The LIFT (Central Coast Youth Council) Mobile Drop In Centre is now up and running. The project, which has been six months in the making, is going to be running every Tuesday afternoon from 3.30pm - 4.30pm over the spring months.
The van offers health information and resources on topics relevant to young people. It also has entertainment for youth such as Playstation 2, television, laptop computer with internet and printing access and sporting equipment. The van will also be seen at local events which are run by LIFT and also at local community events.
This project would not have been possible without the support from local businesses and service clubs such as the Rotary Clubs of Ulverstone and Ulverstone West, the Rotaract Club of Central Coast and the Lions Club of Ulverstone.
If you require further information or would like to check future locations of the van, click on the following link Mobile Drop In Centre

Central Coast Council established LIFT Central Coast Youth Council with the aim of encouraging greater communication between Council and the youth of the Central Coast, whilst encouraging strong leadership skills among its participants and building personal and community pride in our youth and their achievements.

The Group is open to 12-25 year olds and meets every Tuesday fortnight to discuss issues relevant to young people both at school and in the workforce. The Group also assists with the organisation of youth activities and events. The group has recently established their own website. Please visit www.liftyouthcouncil.com.au

One of the Central Coast Strategic Plan's major objectives is to provide opportunities for the development and growth of young people and to "engage young people in community decision making". The Strategy and Integrated Action Plan has been developed as a framework to assist the Council to develop a clear direction and to enable effective future planning for our young people over the next five years. The Central Coast Youth Strategy supersedes a youth policy that was developed in 2000.
The Central Coast Youth Strategy 2008 - 2013 supports the objectives/actions of the 2006 Partnership Agreement between Central Coast Council and the State Government. There are also direct linkages to other key documents. The Strategy's implementation commenced in July 2008 and will continue over the next five years; with a review in 2013.
