Water Sewerage and Stormwater Drainage

Water

Cradle Coast Water provides for the planning, further development, administration, operation and control of the supply of water in bulk to the Council. The Council is responsible for receiving the water in bulk from Cradle Coast Water and the reticulation of supply. All but a handful of properties within the water supply district are provided with a treated supply of water.

Water meters are installed at all properties receiving a supply of water. Meters are read twice a year. The majority of properties pay a water supply charge as part of the rating system in which they are provided with 400 kilolitres of water per annum before excess charges apply and bills are issued. Any queries that consumers may have on the meter reading program may be discussed with the Financial Services Division.

Water is a precious commodity and it is important for consumers to ensure that their internal system is well managed and that leaks are able to be quickly detected and repairs effected.

For more information, contact the Assets & Engineering Department.

Sewerage

Sewerage is provided in respect of all coastal urban areas, with the exception of Forth and Heybridge. It is proposed that the central areas of Forth and Heybridge be sewered within coming years.

Overall the situation in relation to sewage and wastewater disposal in the urban areas has improved to a standard which has dramatically lessened the impact on the receiving environment.

When available, the Council offers sewage sludge subject to a composting process for sale to the community.

For more information, contact the Assets & Engineering Department.

Stormwater Drainage

Stormwater drainage systems have been constructed throughout most of the coastal urban areas.
