Building

Building, plumbing and planning permits are required for almost all building work including new buildings, additions, internal and external alterations, garages, sheds and carports (even if prefabricated), demolitions and fire damage repairs.

Unfortunately, the Central Coast Council is no longer in a position to offer a Building Surveying service.

You will therefore need to engage the services of a private building surveyor before lodging your application for a building permit.

The Council will continue to operate in the statutory role of Building Permit Authority (i.e. issuing the permit after all relevant documentation and building surveying assessment has been satisfactorily completed and provided).

A list of private Building Surveyors is contained in the yellow pages directory or go to the following link which will take you to the Workplace Standards ABP Register - ABP Register

An application form for Building and Plumbing Permits can be obtained from the Building counter or to download and print a copy click on the link below.

If you are unsure as to whether an approval is required please contact the Council's Building & Plumbing Group.
